Blackpool is preparing to bring the curtain down on 2024 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve party on the Prom.

The free family celebration will take place in the Christmas By The Sea village on the Tower Festival Headland between 3pm and 6pm on Tuesday 31 December. It will include a Bavarian-style oompah band and a synchronised fireworks and projection show set to music.

The Tourist Information Centre at Festival House is adding a magical touch to the New Year’s Eve celebrations. Light diffraction paper glasses will be available to purchase for £1 each, transforming the fireworks into stunning snowflakes. The glasses will go on sale on Monday 23 December, while stocks last.

Christmas By The Sea, with a free-to-use skating rink as its centrepiece, includes light installations and projection shows, themed log cabins with a wide range of festive food and drink, artificial snowfalls, and a wide range of rides and attractions including a helter skelter, 100ft-long snow slide and the Star Flyer, one of Europe’s tallest swing rides.

At midnight, the projection show that will feature in the family party will be shown on The Blackpool Tower to mark the start of 2025. The Illuminations will shine until 1am on New Year’s Eve.

Last year, Christmas By The Sea, which has been rated one of the top Christmas destinations in the UK, once again delivered record crowds on the seafront during the winter months. It is open daily from noon (bar Christmas Day) until the end of the extended Illuminations season on January 5.

The village and New Year’s Eve celebrations form part of a resort-wide festive programme which includes attractions, shopping, cinema, and a special discounted parking offer giving four hours of parking for just £2 on most Blackpool Council car parks.

Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, added: “It is going to be a fabulous way to say goodbye to 2024 and hello to 2025. We pride ourselves on providing top quality free entertainment for residents and visitors, and this promises to be a fitting finale to a highly successful calendar of events.”
