Lytham 1940's Weekend 2024

Here's ALL the details about this event.

The beloved Lytham 1940s Weekend returns on Saturday, August 17, and Sunday, August 18, 2024, bringing the past to life with a rich tapestry of historical reenactments, vintage vehicles, dancing, and more. This year's festivities kick off with a special evening event on Friday, August 16th, from 7 PM in the main marquee, supporting the NHS Blue Skies Charity.

The weekend is centred around a vibrant celebration of 1940s history, featuring vehicles, musicians, and life on the home front. While military reenactments are a key part of the event, including a battle reenactment, the presence of a Ukrainian tent underscores our commitment to inclusivity and support for all communities.

Back by popular demand, enjoy a 1940s DJ spinning classic tunes in the square. Dancing also returns on the mussel tanks after fantastic feedback last year and will be available again, weather permitting.

Winston Churchill and the Mayor will judge the best-dressed shop and café competition, encouraging local businesses to get into the spirit of the era.

HERE IS THE FULL PROGRAM AND LINE UP:

At 1pm each day, a vehicle parade will take place, running two laps from opposite the Clifton Arms to Station Rd, Clifton Street, Lowther Terrace, and back. Staff will manage traffic at key points, ensuring a smooth and well-received experience for all.

On the Friday, August 16th, ‘Music on the Green’, an event in aid of NHS Blue Skies Charity will take place from 7pm in the main marquee. All money raised will go to enhancing patient care in hospitals in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

A sold-out performance by the Kalamazoo Dance Band takes place on the Saturday, and visitors can expect plenty of food and refreshment stalls, primarily featuring vendors from Fylde and the Fylde Coast.

Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture at Fylde Council said: “We are excited to welcome everyone to Lytham for a weekend of nostalgia and celebration.

“Join us as we step back in time and experience the charm and spirit of the 1940s.

“Let's come together for an unforgettable event that honours our past and supports our community and businesses.”
