Cosy Homes in Lancashire - your local council scheme

Cosy Homes is offering Government funded grants for heating, insulation and more.

What is Cosy Homes in Lancashire?

Cosy Homes in Lancashire is an Affordable Warmth initiative, set up by 13 Local Councils and fully supported by Lancashire County Council.

The partnership began over 15 years ago, following a Public Health study to look at the impacts on health living in a cold home has, and how Lancashire could maximise funding opportunities to help address the issue.

Following the study, Cosy Homes in Lancashire was formed, with Blackpool Council acting as the Lead Authority.

Since then, Cosy Homes has supported thousands of residents to have energy saving measures installed, making Lancashire homes greener and warmer.

What do Cosy Homes do?

It is our priority to help Lancashire residents feel safe, warm and well in their own homes, improve the energy efficiency of Lancashire properties and reduce carbon emissions.

We support residents with grants towards heating, solar PV and insulation, along with small measures and energy advice.

We pride ourselves on working with Lancashire based, local contractors. All our installers have the correct qualifications to carry out the work and all certificates and guarantees are provided on completion of an installation.

Not only do we ensure measures are installed to a high standard, we want to provide the best quality products too. That is why our preferred partner for Air Source Heat Pumps is Lancashire based manufacture, Global Energy Systems.

Global Energy Systems is a family owned renewable energy company, who design and manufacture Air Source Heat Pumps in Britain, made for British weather. Supported by over 50 years of international engineering experience, three generations have been involved in the company, each innovating and developing engineering excellence.

Funded Grants

We are currently working with our partners to deliver the government funded Home Upgrade Grant (HUG). HUG is available for home owners, landlords* and residential park homes, to receive energy savings measures worth up to £38,000, for free, with no requirement to pay anything back.

Properties without mains gas central heating and an EPC of D, E, F or G could qualify for free air source heat pump central heating, solar PV panels, all types of insulation, single glazed window upgrades and more!

You could qualify if you;

-          Live in an eligible post code area (see website) OR,

-          Have a household income less then £36,000 gross OR,

-          Someone in your household is in receipt of a means tested benefit.

We can also provide support through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) and Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Over the years we have established excellent connections with many great services such as Connected for Warmth, LEAP, Groundwork and Green Rose CIC. Through working together we ensure there is an offer for everyone in Lancashire.
