The Lancaster Grand Prix featuring a food and drink market by Booths is set to return to Williamson Park this Sunday, July 28.
The event includes top cycle racing as part of British Cycling’s Elite National Road Series and consists of both Open and women’s races.
Spectators are welcome to come to the park to watch the races on the roads of Lancaster on a big screen, and enjoy a family fun day, from 9am to 5pm, including the Booths food and drink market.
The races start and finish at the iconic Ashton Memorial with riders setting off at 9am for the Open event and 2.20pm for the women’s event. Both events have fields of over 100 competitors tackling multiple laps of a tough 10 mile course to the east of Lancaster.
Booths market will run from 10am to 4pm and will feature Booths suppliers including Farm Yard Brew Co, Wild and Fruitful chutney, Croftpak tomatoes, Yockenthwaite Farm granola, Gorgeous Cheesecake Company, Flower & White meringue bars, Hip Pop drinks and Simpson’s wines. In addition to the market, the team at Booths will be selling strawberries and cream and grazing cheeseboxes, with selections of cheese, charcuterie and ploughman’s alongside a vegetarian option.
The family fun day will include face painting, children’s sand craft, walkabout puppets, a Wattbike challenge, Porsche e-bike taster rides, plus lots more.
“We’re really looking forward to supporting the cyclists to help deliver a great day out for families," said Hannah Woods, Booths Lancaster store manager.
"Supporting the Lancaster Grand Prix, in our Booths Country heartland, is a great way to support the local community, share our enthusiasm for cycling and encourage people to take up a healthier active lifestyle.
“We’re looking forward to watching the top UK cyclists compete in the beautiful Lancashire countryside and there’s a range of family activities and top regional food and drink on offer at what promises to be a great event.”
