Police are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died in a collision on the M61.
They were called at about 10pm (Tuesday December 12) after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a DAF truck on the carriageway close to Rivington Services on the northbound stretch of the motorway.
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw the collision itself or a man on the hard shoulder at around that time to get in touch. They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage.
