Appeal after fatal M61 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died in a collision on the M61.

They were called at about 10pm (Tuesday December 12) after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a DAF truck on the carriageway close to Rivington Services on the northbound stretch of the motorway.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw the collision itself or a man on the hard shoulder at around that time to get in touch. They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage.

If you can help, please call 101 quoting log 1417 of Tuesday, December 12.
