Last night (July 19), at around 9pm, Police were called to a disturbance on Tulketh Brow in Ashton-on-Ribble, with reports of a number of people fighting and a knife being seen by a member of the public.
On arrival, and after a search of the area, officers arrested three men, one found hiding in the shed of a nearby property. A large kitchen knife was found nearby.
The men, aged 21, 22 and 23, who are all from Preston are now in Police custody being questioned on suspicion of Affray.
Chief Inspector Sue Bushell from Preston Police said: ‘We will not tolerate those found in possession of knives in public, and I want to reassure residents that we take any report of knife crime extremely seriously.
We will continue to use all appropriate powers available to us to keep communities safe and we would ask people to be vigilant and to provide us with information about knife crime if they believe it is happening in their area.’
In a separate incident, Police also have two people waiting to be questioned on suspicion of drugs offences after a search of a property in Preston yesterday.
During patrols, and after witnessing suspicious activity, officers entered a house on Walton’s Parade and found a substantial amount of what’s thought to be a Class A drug along with a number of mobile phones.
A 21 year old man and a 32 year old woman who are both from Preston are under arrest on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and enquiries are ongoing.
