The top of the famous Blackpool Tower has been transformed into one of the country’s highest indoor gardens, as it launches its floral wonderland for the second year.
The Tower Top Garden, which officially opened on Friday, features more than 50,000 blooms, creating a series of floral displays and picture-perfect spots 380ft-high in the sky.
In place until November, the garden has been installed by a team of floristry experts who have spent hundreds of hours gathering blossoms and plants ensuring every single petal is in place.
The garden, which has been designed and created by Preston-based Margaret Mason Florist, includes a range of artificial botanical floral arrangements, offering visitors the chance to soak up the stunning views across the Fylde coast.
This year, the garden will transform with the changing seasons. Starting in April with beautiful cherry and apple blossoms then, in July and August, sunflowers will be brought in to celebrate summer. As the weather turns cooler in September, the garden will become an autumnal wonderland of crisp golden leaves and pumpkins.
Visitors will experience a technicolour dream vision of blooms and trailing vines that take inspiration from the seasonality of English gardens.
Aaron Edgar, Head of Operations at The Blackpool Tower, said: “We first launched our Tower Top Garden last summer, which was a massive success with our visitors. So, we’re incredibly excited to bring back the garden this year, bigger and better than before!
“We’ve brought in more floral arrangements and worked closely with our experts at Margaret Mason Florist to create an oasis at the very top of our Tower, with plans to switch the theme later in the year in time for autumn and Halloween.
“Bringing the outdoors in gives our visitors the opportunity to grab the perfect selfies with our various displays, looking out over the coast and taking in the spectacular views, so we’re looking forward to unveiling it all today!”
While enjoying the Tower Top Garden, brave visitors will also have the chance to experience the famous Skywalk, a five centimetre-thick glass viewing platform, offering a unique view of the Blackpool promenade directly below.
Aaron added: “We have lots of returning guests every year, as well as brand new visitors to Blackpool, so it’s important to us that we keep offering fresh, exciting ways to enjoy the Tower.
“We have our garden in place much earlier this year and, with our upcoming bank holidays, we’re looking forward to giving families something extra special to see and do.”
The Tower Top Garden is included with all standard Tower Eye tickets will be part of the experience when visiting The Blackpool Tower Eye from 29 April until 5 November.
