Two arrested in Blackpool following community intelligence

Two people were arrested in Blackpool this week after police acted on intelligence from the public.

On Tuesday (November 8), an eagle-eyed member of the community reported that a vehicle had been seen acting in suspicious circumstances in Blackpool and believed it was being used to supply drugs.

Blackpool Police acted on this information and quickly identified the vehicle the following day, in which officers found a large quantity of cash, several mobile phones and medication not in either person’s name. Two people were arrested, and the vehicle was seized.

After further investigation a local hotel room was searched in which officers found more cash, a wrap of suspected Class A drugs and more medication in other names. Greater Manchester Police then conducted house searches on behalf of Lancashire, and further suspected drugs were discovered.

A 22-year-old male and a 40-year-old male from Manchester have been arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply Class A drugs and have since been released under investigation.

Chief Superintendent Karen Edwards, Divisional Commander of West Division, said: “This is a fantastic example of police and community partnerships tackling serious and organised crime in the area.

“I am grateful for the community support. My officers require a rich intelligence picture to ensure we effectively deploy resources where a positive outcome is achieved, as demonstrated in this case”.
