The Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team, in collaboration with multiple partner agencies, carried out Operation Rally this week.
The operation aimed to address community concerns, tackle anti-social behaviour and remove unsafe vehicles from the streets.
The operation began with Bin the Bangers, an ongoing initiative targeting untaxed, abandoned and road-unworthy vehicles. Working closely with the DVLA and Hyndburn Council, the team successfully removed 11 untaxed vehicles from the streets, freeing up valuable community space.
Officers also held a multi-agency meeting involving Onwards Homes, the Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Hyndburn Council to find effective solutions following community concerns around recent crime and ASB around the Springhill area.
Neighbourhood officers were out on high visibility foot patrols tackling issues after school around the Hartley Avenue and Cartmel Avenue areas, as well as carrying out high-visibility foot patrols in the Fern Gore and Bullough Park areas as part of Op Centurion, our force-wide approach to ASB. Officers were focused on addressing complaints regarding fireworks leading up to the Festive period. Our Mounted officers also joined, providing reassurance patrols across Bullough Park, Fern Gore, Miller Fold, Fife Street and Gordan Avenue.
During the operation, officers seized a vehicle after its driver was found reversing up a “no entry” street. The driver had no insurance, and a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search of the car resulted in the discovery of a small amount of drugs, which were seized. The driver was issued a penalty notice for the disorder.
Local Neighbourhood Inspector for Hyndburn, Peter Norris, said: “Operation Rally is all about engaging with the local community and working with our partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter to our residents the most.
“We will continue to address these issues and would encourage people to continue to report their concerns to us by signing up to Lancashire Talking and In The Know”.
