
Popular local podcast returns with more fascinating stories from the heart of Preston, hosted by former BBC broadcaster John Gillmore.
Central Radio has announced the return of its popular Parched Pea podcast, partnering once again with Lancashire Post and Blog Preston to bring listeners a brand-new series of captivating stories from Preston’s community, charities, and businesses.
Following the success of the first series, which showcased inspiring local people and their experiences, series two promises even more engaging tales, with the warm and welcoming John Gillmore, a former BBC local radio broadcaster, returning as host. Known for his friendly and approachable presenting style, Gillmore has a knack for drawing out fascinating insights from his guests.

Throughout the series, listeners will be taken on a journey across Preston, starting with a stroll around the city’s picturesque Winckley Square before popping into popular local businesses such as Winckley Street Alehouse and Green Pheasant Gifts. The podcast will also visit the Sandbag Café at St George’s Church to hear moving stories from veterans of the armed forces.
Other highlights include a conversation with a former Bluecoat, who will share remarkable experiences working at some of Lancashire’s best-known tourist destinations.
