The Encounter Festival transformed Preston into a vibrant hub of music and arts over the weekend.
The two day event drew thousands of visitors to experience the city's rich cultural tapestry. This free festival, a highlight in Lancashire's cultural calendar, offered an array of performances and activities that delighted attendees of all ages.
One of the standout moments was the Torchlight Procession, which illuminated the streets with a mesmerising display of lights and creativity. Participants paraded through the city centre, carrying beautifully crafted lanterns that cast a magical glow over the enthusiastic crowds. The procession culminated in a spectacular finale, leaving spectators in awe.

Another highlight was "WILD," an innovative dance-circus production by the renowned company Motionhouse. The performance, set against the backdrop of Preston's historic architecture, explored the relationship between humans and nature through a series of breathtaking acrobatics and powerful choreography. Audiences were left spellbound by the performers' agility and grace.
The Family Catwalk Extravaganza was a joyful celebration of self-expression and inclusivity. Families from across the region took to the stage to showcase their unique styles, with participants of all ages strutting their stuff in colourful costumes. The event was met with cheers and applause, embodying the festival's spirit of community and creativity.

Visitors were full of praise for the festival's diverse offerings. "The energy here is incredible," said Sarah Thompson, a who travelled from Burnley after hearing Encounter Festival on Central Radio. "It's a perfect blend of creativity and community. There's something for everyone to enjoy."
Another attendee, Mark Williams, commented, "Encounter Festival truly showcases the best of Lancashire's cultural diversity. It's an unforgettable experience that brings people together and has helped to bring more visitors into the city... there's a real buzz around Preston this weekend."
The festival also featured workshops, street performances, and pop-up art installations scattered throughout Preston, inviting visitors to engage with art in unexpected ways. As Encounter Festival came to a close, it left behind a sense of joy and inspiration, reminding everyone of the power of art to unite and uplift communities.
