Intensive day of action tackles community issues in Preston City Centre

Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team have been out and about over the last few days tackling issues raised by the local community.

Officers carried out both uniformed and plain-clothed operations in the City Centre, focusing on drug dealing and anti-social behaviour, concerns that local residents and businesses have identified through the Lancashire Talking survey.

As a result, they arrested two people, one for drugs offences and one who was wanted for failing to appear in court over knife offences.

Police also carried out numerous stop searches and provided high visibility patrols in the area.

Sgt Tom Rettie from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing team said: “This is just a snapshot of the work that we carry out every day to tackle the issues which matter most to our communities and we will continue to work alongside our partners to combat them.

“We would encourage local residents to take our Lancashire Talking survey so that they can tell us about issues concerning them and so that we can direct our resources appropriately to tackle those issues.”

Op Centurion is a county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour, led by Lancashire Constabulary and backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, delivering his priority of getting tough on anti-social behaviour, with the support of our partners.

You can report to police by calling 101 or reporting online. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
