Lighting Up Leyland stars revealed for 2024

Coronation Street and Benidorm star Tony Maudsley plus singer Nathan Moore have been revealed as the special guests doing the honours of turning Leyland’s Christmas Lights On for 2024.

Celebrating its ten-year anniversary and hosted by South Ribble Borough Council in partnership with Leyland Town Team, the event will take place on Saturday 30 November.

Sponsored by Brian Pilkington Estate Agents, it promises to be a fun day for all the family with Christmas market stalls, a fabulous line up of entertainment and more, leading up to the main event taking place at 5.30pm.

Caroline Wolfenden, Director of Change and Delivery at South Ribble Borough Council said, “We’re delighted that this fabulous event will return for 2024 to get the Christmas celebrations started in Leyland.

“We work in partnership with Leyland Town Team to deliver an event that not only provides a fantastic day for all but also supports local businesses who benefit from the footfall. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying the day.”

Martin Carlin, Chair of Leyland Town Team said, “Who would believe we’re 10 years on, as a great partnership with South Ribble Borough Council, we have delivered and created this event to which we look forward to many more years to come in growing this event. Let’s all come together and make this a year to remember. See you all soon.”

In addition to the special guests there’ll be stage entertainment from 3pm, featuring artists from the last ten years of the event, plus, watch out for ‘The Conductor’ appearing on stage.

There’ll be a variety of Christmas market stalls including street food and drink, as well as children’s attractions and rides. Leyland’s United Reformed Church will also be open with stalls, crafts, and Christingle.

Free parking will be available for the event on King Street, Sumner Street, Churchill Way and Ecroyd Street car parks.

The local, Leyland Cross Christmas Light Switch on will take place the night before on Friday 29 November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm with free refreshments and mince pies available in St Andrews Church.
