
A 17-year-old was arrested after a 135mph pursuit along the M6 and M65.
The incident on Thursday evening occurred when an officer noticed a vehicle driving at 135mph.
The pursuit continued onto the M6 and M65 and then into the streets of Nelson, when the vehicle stopped and two occupants jumped out, attempting to run off. They were detained s shortly after. A 17-year-old male was arrested and his car seized.
He has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving with excess alcohol and driving without insurance, and bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on 11th June.
It was a busy evening for Lancashire Road Police, as at around 10pm on the same night, an off-duty officer spotted a BMW 4 series driving erratically. On duty officers responded, and the vehicle and driver were located.
A 27-year-old, from Fleetwood, was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving. He has since been released under investigation.
In the early hours of Friday morning, an officer was in a marked car, when a vehicle passed him at 130mph. The vehicle was pursued for a number of miles, before being brought to a stop.
At the roadside, the driver gave a breath reading of 69 – the legal limit is 35. A 38 year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and his car was seized.
Kelford Leslie, of Plymouth Road, Blackpool, has been charged with driving a vehicle above the alcohol limit and bailed to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on 18th July.
