Eight Blackpool and Fylde Police Cadets celebrate as they join police forces around the UK

Eight Police Cadets from the Blackpool and Fylde unit have been accepted into four different police forces across the UK.

One Cadet has now joined Metropolitan Police and another will start at West Yorkshire in May 2023.

Two Cadets have joined Greater Manchester Police and four have continued into Lancashire.

Cadet Coordinator Nikki Leigh said: “I am so proud of all the Cadets who have been successful in securing positions in a range of different forces.

“Joining us as a Police Cadet is the perfect chance for young people to see if a career in the police service is right for them. It allows an opportunity to really make a difference within the community and make some great friends along the way.

“The fact that eight of our Cadets have been successful in becoming police officers this year makes us all so proud. This is a huge achievement.”

Chief Superintendent Karen Edwards, strategic lead for Police Cadets within Lancashire Constabulary, said: “Our Cadets are a huge part of our police family. They do a great deal of work to help people in our communities feel safer.

“Their engagement within the community builds trust and confidence, especially with those who may not necessarily engage with the police.

“This is a huge achievement for these Cadets, and they should be proud of themselves and all that they have achieved so far.”

Recruitment to become a Police Cadet opens in 2023.
